Namakkal, Tamil Nadu — Est. 1998
The Sengunthar Educational Trust was formally registered under the Indian Trusts Act with its headquarters in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. The founding board comprised five trustees united by a shared mission to elevate nursing education in the region.
The Trust's flagship institution, Sengunthar College of Nursing, was inaugurated with an initial intake of 40 students for the B.Sc Nursing programme, affiliated with TNMGRMU and approved by the Indian Nursing Council.
The Trust launched its Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Fund, initially supporting 25 students per batch from economically weaker backgrounds — a number that has grown to over 80 beneficiaries annually today.
A major capital investment by the Trust funded the construction of a modern academic block, advanced simulation laboratory, and expanded hostel facilities — more than doubling the college's student capacity.
The Trust signed Memoranda of Understanding with healthcare institutions in India, creating structured placement pathways for graduating nurses — the first such initiative by a nursing college in Namakkal district.
As the Trust celebrates 25 years of service, a new strategic roadmap has been approved to establish a Centre of Excellence in Nursing Research, launch a Post-Basic Diploma programme, and expand the scholarship fund to support 200 students annually by 2027.
The Trust's founding charter outlines six core objectives that guide every decision made by the Board of Trustees and the college administration.
To establish and administer nursing and healthcare education institutions that consistently deliver high-quality, nationally accredited programmes.
To ensure that merit and passion, not economic circumstance, determine a student's access to quality nursing education through scholarship support.
To promote evidence-based nursing practice and foster a research culture that contributes meaningfully to healthcare knowledge and patient outcomes.
To prepare graduates who are not just locally competitive but globally sought-after, by integrating international clinical standards into the curriculum.
To extend healthcare education's benefits beyond campus through community outreach, free health camps, and public health awareness initiatives.
To maintain the highest standards of governance, transparency, and ethical administration in all Trust operations and institutional management.
The Sengunthar Educational Trust is governed by a distinguished Board of Trustees comprising healthcare professionals, educationists, legal experts, and community leaders.
